Kawasaki Racing Team MX2’s Mathis Valin Secures Top-10 Finish in Rookie MX2 Season

Kawasaki Racing Team MX2’s Mathis Valin capped off his rookie FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship campaign with a top-10 finish in the final series standings after a dramatic season finale in Darwin, Australia.

In the opening moto, the French teenager executed a smart line through turn two to slot into fifth, then advanced to fourth by lap ten. He continued to pressure for a podium spot to the finish, earning 18 valuable points and closing to within just two points of ninth in the championship.

The second moto began under clear skies but quickly turned chaotic as torrential rain flooded the track within minutes. Valin charged into sixth—just ahead of his direct rival for ninth in the standings—before a mistake on lap six dropped him several positions. Undeterred, he mounted a strong comeback, regaining ground to eighth before the race was red-flagged. Under countback rules, he was classified 11th, placing him ninth overall on the day and securing 10th in the final series standings.

Mathis Valin:
"I had a good start in the first moto and good pace for P4, but the second moto was crazy. There was so much water, and suddenly I had no brakes on a downhill. I was physically OK but had to stop in the pits. I felt strong in the mud afterward, but the crash left me too far behind to make up a result."
