Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki Team Green ™ Riders Climb the Podium at Mountaineer GNCC
BECKLEY, W.Va. (Sept. 22, 2025) - The dust was flying at this weekend’s Mountaineer Grand National Cross Country race in West Virginia, and Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki Team Green™ was right in the middle of it. Despite the dry, tough conditions, the riders put in strong performances to land on the podium.
Nick DeFeo is a rookie in the XC2 Pro class, but didn’t show it this weekend. DeFeo started the race in third overall and rode strong the entire race, challenging the leaders through the dust and rocks. Despite a crash and dislocated finger with two laps to go, DeFeo charged on for third overall on the day, an incredible feat for a rookie. “It was a good day! I’m finally back where I feel I belong. I haven’t ridden like myself the last few races, so it feels great to get this one,” said DeFeo.
Rachael Archer also had a great ride, leading most of the WXC race and eventually finishing in a strong second place. “I felt great out there. I had one little tip over with a lapper that threw me off, but otherwise it was a good race for me. I’m happy to have gained more points in the championship,” said Archer.
Steward Baylor had a strong start, but unfortunately, a mechanical issue forced him into the pits early, and he was done for the day. “It’s a bummer to have a day like this. The main thing is, everyone got out healthy. It was sketchy out there!” said Baylor. Grant Baylor also had a stellar ride going, running near the top before a crash damaged the bike and ended his day.
The team will race again on Oct. 4 at the Muddobbers National Enduro in Indiana.
